Day: 82-degrees | Night: 62-degrees
A lovely, cloudy morning here in the Carondelet Garden. Light breezes swept across us as we stepped outside this morning. A truly lovely beginning to the day. It's the first Friday of September and the beginning of the Labor Day Weekend. Do you have big plans for the weekend? Labor Day is observed on the first Monday in September. It is the annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being. It is also the unofficial end of summer and the beginning of Fall. It does have a bit of that Fall feeling in the air this morning over South Saint Louis. Mostly cloudy skies all day today with light and variable winds. Tonight, there is a pretty good chance of showers which would be a welcome sight for all of the gardeners around here. I hope you have a moment to rest and relax this weekend. Enjoy a break and celebrate the American Worker. We have our fair share of problems, but we are still an amazing country with fantastic, creative people who can and do make a difference every day. Thank you to all of you who are the difference we need right now. Be good to yourself and kind to one another. Have a great Friday Gardening Friends!
